The Project

The JACKALOPE BLOCK PARTY Ventura is a high-energy, 3-day community event that transformed the city’s downtown core into a world-class competitive arena, marking the official first stop on the West Coast.

By installing a massive custom 13.5 ft Vert ramp in the heart of the city, TRIBU aimed to cement Ventura’s position as a premier global hub for action sports and created a free, accessible stadium environment for the community.
The project featured an elite competition hosting a field of 120 athletes from 9 countries, including headliners like three-time champion JD Sanchez and rising stars Jada Ward and Egoitz Bijueska. Athletes competed for a prize purse split equally between male and female riders.

This first stop established a high-stakes season format, as top winners in Ventura earned an automatic, all-expenses-paid entry into the next stop in Virginia Beach.

Impactful Marketing Highlights

  • Call for Artists: To integrate the local community, we launched an artist contest in collaboration with Visit Ventura to design the event’s identity. This resulted in 20 local submissions and generated 79k+ views and 3.6k interactions on Instagram. The winning design was used across social media, branding, and merchandise.
  • Regional Promotion: Partnering with Ventura County Coast, we produced destination content for Ventura, Camarillo, Oxnard, and Port Hueneme, generating 50k views on regional assets to drive tourism and webcast viewership.
  • Community Activation: By partnering with California’s largest women-only skate competition: Exposure Skate, we offered a Wild Card entry to the BLOCK PARTY. Targeted content creation, featuring legends like Christian Hosoi and Andy Mac, generated 90k additional views.

The Experience

Adrenaline & Legacy

Fans experienced three days of free, elite Vert Ramp competition featuring big airs and technical runs from the world’s best.
A highlights demo titled “Legends and Friends” brought OGs like Bob Burnquist to the ramp, allowing the crowd to witness the sport’s timeless roots in person.

The atmosphere reached a fever pitch during the main event; although JD Sanchez was initially unsure if he would participate due to injuries, he was inspired by his peers and decided to jump into the competition.
For the first time in JACKALOPE history, the judges awarded an almost perfect score of 99, a historic moment that showcased the incredible level of dedication found at our events. Mirroring his legendary performance at JACKALOPE Montreal 2025 (where he won while wearing a cast on his other arm) Sanchez’s victory in Ventura solidified his status as a relentless force in the sport.

“Every single wall is just the best way you could do the trick.”
Bob Burnquist (about JD Sanchez’s run).

Beyond the Ramp

  • Festival Atmosphere: The downtown core was transformed with live music, vendors, and exclusive local business experiences to drive local economic impact.
  • Powell-Peralta Street Section: We collaborated with industry giant Powell-Peralta on a dedicated free street section. In a show of community craft, several features were designed and built by Buena High School students.
  • Exclusive Access: Revenue-driving tiers included the Premium Pass for best-in-house seating and the Shredder Pass for fans to skate the official competition ramp.
  • Global Connectivity: A live stream presented by Ventura County Coast and hosted by Todd Richards & Bob Burnquist delivered real-time global exposure, extending Ventura’s reach far beyond its physical footprint. The broadcast captured 20k organic views so far, reinforcing JACKALOPE as a premium action sports property.
