The project

The documentary Sportives sur l’Adrénaline aired in March 2025 and aims to spark a dialogue about gender inequality in sports. The goal is to raise awareness among the public and industry stakeholders (including event producers like us) about the importance of building a more inclusive sports landscape.

A Powerful Dive into the Reality of Women in Action Sports

How far have we truly come in the fight for equality in sport? This question is at the heart of Sportives Sur l’Adrénaline, a bold and timely documentary produced by Tribu, directed by Joanie Gareau and Jean-Michel Gaudreault. Premiering on Télé-Québec in March 2025, the film follows the stories of four remarkable women pushing boundaries in male-dominated action sports: Annie Guglia (professional skateboarder), Laurie Blouin (Olympic snowboarder), Lysanne Richard (world-class high diver), and Cynthia Gauthier (monster truck driver and welder).

Through intimate interviews, action-packed footage, and thoughtful storytelling, Sportives Sur l’Adrénaline exposes the persistent inequalities faced by women athletes in terms of pay, media coverage, and social perception. Despite their skills and undeniable passion, these women often struggle for recognition, sponsorship, and visibility in a system still largely designed for (and dominated by) men.

Beyond showcasing individual achievements, the film positions these athletes as role models who are paving the way for future generations. Their stories highlight both the progress made and the systemic challenges that remain. The documentary doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable truths but instead uses them to spark reflection and ignite dialogue. It’s a celebration of courage, tenacity, and the adrenaline that fuels their drive.

To further amplify the message, Sportives Sur l’Adrénaline is accompanied by a short-format series titled La Relève, featuring five young, up-and-coming female athletes. This next-gen perspective reinforces the urgency of continued change and underlines the importance of representation from the grassroots level all the way to the top of the podium.

With this production, Tribu once again proves its dedication to amplifying underrepresented voices and challenging the status quo in the world of sports. By giving these women a platform, Sportives Sur l’Adrénaline doesn’t just tell a story, it inspires action.

I showed younger athletes that it was possible.
