The Mountain bike’s Super Bowl lands in Quebec City

Mountain biking in Quebec is a booming market that includes 1.1 million enthusiasts where nearly half are young people aged between 18 and 34 years old. This sport has increased by nearly 500,000 people over the past 5 years. The truth is, mountain biking centers in Quebec have never been so busy.

This enthusiasm is driving cycling destinations that are developing to accommodate a growing clientele via quality infrastructure. Every year, many mountain bike centers offer new trails, built to high standards that involve heavy machinery and expert trail designers.

The Quebec region stands out

The province of Quebec offers 2,600 km of mountain bike trails, including 575 km in the Capitale-Nationale region, which is by far the area with the most terrain. The top five go-to centers of the destination, which are Mont-Sainte-Anne, Vallée Bras-du-Nord, Sentiers du Moulin, Empire 47 and the Massif de Charlevoix, have witnessed an increase of more than 300% in their traffic over the five last years. Incredible!

It must be said that in 2014, they decided to join forces under the Québec Vélo de Montagne tag, an association that was (and still is) aiming to position itself as a major mountain biking destination across the province and beyond. One thing is clear; they can claim “mission accomplished”!

The icing on the cake for Quebec: the arrival of Crankworx Summer Series – Quebec City Region

With all this supporting data, it is well established that the mountain bike market is booming in Quebec and the arrival of Crankworx Summer Series – Quebec Region comes and echoes this trend by bringing together the ever-growing community of fans of this sport.

Crank-what?

Hailing from Whistler, B.C., Crankworx is an international mountain bike tour festival that presents several elite mountain bike competitions. Since its inception in 2004, Crankworx has become one of Whistler’s top annual go-to events. With sister events in Austria and New Zealand, a new destination is to be announced soon. Known as the sport’s Super Bowl, it is the largest mountain bike event of its kind in the world.

This year, it’s moving to the Quebec region through a series of Canadian summer events Crankworx Summer Series Canada, a colorful free event that is sure to shine the spotlight on Quebec’s trending MTB sites. The Crankworx Summer Series is Crankworx’s punk little brother: Young, dynamic and fun, it rides unfiltered and super-charged. Serious when required but beyond that, fun and festive.
